Police Officer From Toyama Prefecture Referred to Prosecutors on Suspicion of Causing Fatal Accident Due to Drowsy Driving (Kyodo News)

On the 20th, the Toyama Prefectural Police referred Police Officer Shota Morikoshi (26) of Himi City, Toyama Prefecture, to prosecutors on suspicion of violating the Act on Punishment of Offenses Relating to Driving (negligent homicide) for causing a fatal accident while drowsy driving, and imposed a disciplinary punishment of a 10% reduction in salary for six months. He was on his way home from the police station where he was on duty.
