Teacher Charged After False Assault Report Prompts Lockdown at Splendora High School
Investigators say 80 officers responded after a teacher’s panic alarm and found the injury was self-inflicted, leading to false report and evidence charges.
On Thursday, April 9, 2026, Splendora High School entered lockdown after 53-year-old teacher Nicole Truelove triggered a panic alarm that authorities later determined was a hoax involving self-inflicted injuries.
More than 80 law enforcement officers from multiple agencies responded within minutes, initially investigating reports of an assault involving a student and a staff member at the campus.
Investigators determined the assault report was a "hoax" after finding a blade in Truelove's possession, confirming no students were harmed during the incident that disrupted morning classes.
Authorities charged Truelove with filing a false report and tampering with evidence, while the Texas Education Agency opened a separate investigation into the teacher.
Splendora ISD Superintendent Dr. Dustin Bromley defended the security response as "flawless," stating emergency protocols successfully kept students safe while the district managed parent reunification throughout the afternoon.
