Shane MacGowan Left £4.8m Estate in England and Wales
Probate records show the estate’s gross and net value at £4.8 million, and his wife is named sole beneficiary and executor.
Probate records reveal that late Pogues singer Shane MacGowan left an estate worth £4,800,000 to his wife, Victoria Mary Clarke, who is named as sole beneficiary and executor.
Signed on March 14, 2018, the document predates the couple's November 2018 Copenhagen marriage, so it refers to Clarke as his "partner" rather than wife.
The £4,800,000 valuation specifically covers assets in England and Wales, with the will stating: "I give, devise and bequeath all I die possessed of... to the said Victoria Mary Clarke for her own absolute use and benefit."
His sister, Siobhan MacGowan, was named to inherit the estate if Clarke predeceased him, while the Irish Courts Service issued a grant of probate to Clarke in June 2024.
The Pogues frontman died peacefully on November 30, 2023, at age 65, leaving a legacy blending traditional Irish influences with punk; thousands of mourners later lined Dublin's streets for his funeral.
