Prime Minister Modi honored the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s 100 years of nation-building with a Rs 100 silver coin and commemorative stamp featuring Bharat Mata, a first on Indian currency.
- On Wednesday , Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a commemorative postage stamp and a Rs 100 silver coin to mark the RSS centenary at Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.
- Founded 100 years ago on Vijayadashami, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was established in 1925 by Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar to pursue nation-building.
- The Rs 100 coin features the Bharat Mata image on coin in varad mudra with swayamsevak imagery, while the commemorative postage stamp recalls the 1963 Republic Day Parade.
- The Prime Minister emphasised the RSS's 'Nation First' ethos and credited the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and its affiliates with contributions in education, health, social welfare, and disaster relief.
- Quoting national unity concerns, Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned, `Unity in diversity has always been India's soul... This is why I announced the Demographic Mission from the Red Fort. We need to stay alert and fight this challenge,` he said.
