- On May 3, Dempsey fatally shot DeBoe before leaving the residence with her three daughters. She "concealed herself and her children behind a patch of trees" on West Tever Street, where she killed two daughters.
- Dempsey attempted to kill her 2-year-old daughter but missed, and officers found the child unharmed at the scene. Mills stated the survivor is in "good health" and is staying with family.
- Investigators found "indications of some mental illness involved with the case," though limited details were disclosed. Mills emphasized detectives thoroughly investigated and ruled out Jay Dempsey as a suspect after reviewing cellphone data.
