South Sudan Plane Crash Kills All 14 on Board
Authorities said preliminary reports point to poor visibility from adverse weather as investigators and emergency teams reached the wreckage.
On Monday, a Cessna aircraft operated by CityLink Aviation Ltd crashed near Juba, South Sudan, killing all 14 people on board, the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority confirmed.
Departing Yei, the CityLink plane was on a flight to Juba covering about 80 miles when authorities lost contact about 30 minutes into the journey.
Among the 14 victims were 12 South Sudanese and two Kenyans, with a response team dispatched to the crash site located about 12 miles outside Juba.
Initial reports from the SSCAA suggest the aircraft may have crashed "due to adverse weather conditions, particularly low visibility," with officials dispatched for investigations.
Videos shared on social media showed the aircraft's remains in flames at the crash site, which appeared misty and mountainous as authorities gathered information.
