Xalapa, Ver., The local Congress approved the withdrawal of the constitutional jurisdiction of the mayors of Ixhuatlán del Sureste, Raúl González Martínez, and of Úrsulo Galván, Bertín Bravo Montero – both of the Citizens' Movement (MC) party – so that they can be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office (FGE) for the crimes they are accused of.
The Congress of Veracruz took over the constitutional jurisdiction of two mayors of MC who are investigated by the FGE for various crimes.
The decision of the deputies did not mean to issue a guilty verdict against the municipal presidents, but only to withdraw their immunity from prosecution in order to face criminal charges and a possible trial.
