Pilot Draws Giant Eight-Mile Bin in Sky Above Clacton Ahead of by-Election
The route stretched about 8 miles and appeared to reference independent candidate Count Binface as campaigning continued ahead of polling day.
A pilot flew a Beagle B121 aircraft in a bin-shaped path above Clacton-on-Sea on Saturday, according to Flightradar24 data, in an apparent reference to independent by-election candidate Count Binface.
Reform leader Nigel Farage faces 33 rival candidates in Thursday's Clacton by-election, the largest number of contenders in a modern British by-election, following his decision to trigger the contest.
Polling data suggests Count Binface, whose real name is Jonathan David Harvey, could receive around 20 per cent of the vote, while actor-turned-politician Laurence Fox is also running.
It remains unknown if the flight was an official political stunt, but candidate Count Binface shared a screenshot on X, saying, "How can I top a giant skydrawing of a bin over Clacton?"
Major Westminster parties, including Labour and the Conservatives, are boycotting the election and dismissed it as a "stunt," as Clacton voters prepare to cast ballots on Thursday.
According to Flightradar24's tracking data, the aircraft would take off from Earls Colne Airport in Essex at 2:48 p.m. on Saturday and landed at 4:13 p.m., after spending about half an hour over the sea off Clacton.
