Phone tapping case: KCR asked to be available for questioning on February 1

K. Chandrashekar Rao disputes the questioning venue and timing in the phone-tapping probe involving over 600 unrelated phone numbers, SIT said.

  • On February 1, the SIT scheduled K. Chandrashekar Rao's questioning for 3 pm at his Nandi Nagar residence, as the second notice served Friday said.
  • The SIT's first notice, signed by an ACP of Jubilee Hills, said Rao was acquainted with facts relevant to the alleged phone tapping after recording statements from his son K T Rama Rao and nephews T Harish Rao and Joginipally Santosh Kumar.
  • Investigators say the probe has widened to illegal access of call data and IP records, with at least 600 tapped numbers not related to Left-wing extremism, involving former SIB chief T Prabhakar Rao and others.
  • Seeking a delay, Rao asked for examination at his Erravalli farmhouse, Markook mandal, Siddipet district, about 60 km from Hyderabad, due to municipal and corporation election nominations.
  • After the Thursday notice asked KCR to appear, the SIT continued to debate venue and timing, citing Section 160 of the CrPC and administrative difficulties, published January 30.
