Peter Kay Bomb Hoax Accused Removed From Court During Hearing
Omar Majed is charged with false communications after an alleged bomb hoax forced the evacuation and cancellation of a Peter Kay show for nearly 13,000 people.
On Monday, 19-year-old Omar Majed appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court charged with false communications over an alleged bomb hoax at a Peter Kay show.
Prosecutors allege Majed barged into the Utilita Arena on Friday without a ticket and indicated a bomb was present, forcing the evacuation of nearly 13,000 people.
West Midlands Police confirmed "nothing suspicious was found" during searches; Majed was removed from today's 11-minute hearing after shouting that proposed bail conditions were "not acceptable."
District Judge Michelle Smith denied bail and remanded Majed in custody, ordering the case to Birmingham Crown Court on June 1.
The cancelled performance was part of Kay's "Better Late Than Never" national tour, with profits from his 2026 arena shows pledged to 12 cancer charities.
