Greenpeace Turkey found that three out of 20 tomato samples taken from five chain supermarkets contained pesticides that violated regulations. One sample contained a substance banned in 2010, and it was noteworthy that two of the violations were found in products bearing the 'good agricultural practices' logo.
Twenty tomato samples taken by Greenpeace Turkey from five chain supermarkets in Istanbul were analyzed in an independent laboratory. Three samples showed the use of pesticides contrary to regulations, and one sample contained Chlorfenapyr, a substance banned in 2010.
Greenpeace Türkiye's analysis of tomato samples collected from chain supermarkets in Istanbul has revealed scandalous results. 70% of the analyzed tomatoes were found to contain PFAS, a substance that does not decompose in nature, and even products bearing the "Good Agricultural Practices" logo were found to contain pesticides that have been banned for 14 years.
