Experts from the Pan Europe organization found that 85 percent of apples tested in Europe contained residues of several pesticides. Some of them even showed traces of up to seven chemicals. According to the study, Czech fruit is among those that performed the worst in the examination.

An international study found at least one permanent chemical in all of the Hungarian apples tested, and 60 percent contained pesticide residues harmful to the nervous system. None of the fruits should be given to infants or young children, the Hungarian Association of Nature Conservation warned.

The European coordination of environmental NGOs, PAN Europe, has analysed 59 samples of apples taken from 13 countries in Europe, with the result that 50 of them, or 85%, were contaminated with pesticide cocktails.
