Person of Interest in Florida Homicide Arrested in West Virginia
Investigators say the death is being treated as a domestic violence homicide, and detectives are working to return Matthew Allen Waggle to Indian River County.
On Wednesday night, U.S. Marshals arrested Matthew Allen Waggle at a motel near Dunbar, West Virginia, in connection with the fatal shooting of 52-year-old hairstylist Dawn Kriskewic in Vero Beach.
Deputies discovered Kriskewic with an apparent gunshot wound in the 500 block of First Street on Sunday, August 16, 2026, after responding to a 911 call reporting a woman in the roadway.
Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers identified Waggle as a person of interest, stating investigators believe the pair were in an on-and-off relationship and are treating the shooting as a domestic violence homicide.
Lucie County resident Michelle Wagner described Kriskewic as an upbeat and professional hairstylist, while area residents expressed shock over the fatal violence in their typically quiet neighborhood.
Indian River County Sheriff's Office officials are working to return Waggle to the county, with additional arrest details shared during a news conference held Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
