Pereyra Scores in the 89th, Callender Has 6 Saves for Minnesota in 1-1 Tie with RSL
Joaquín Pereyra scored in the 89th minute and Drake Callender made six saves as Minnesota United ended a nine-match winless streak.
Minnesota United and Real Salt Lake played to a 1-1 tie on Saturday at America First Field in Sandy, Utah, in a Leagues Cup return to MLS play.
Real Salt Lake forward Sergi Solans scored in the 82nd minute to break the scoreless deadlock, but Joaquin Pereyra equalized in the 89th minute following a header from substitute Marcus Caldeira.
Minnesota goalkeeper Drake Callender recorded six saves and provided the assist on Pereyra's equalizer, marking the 28-year-old's first career goal contribution in MLS.
The draw extends Real Salt Lake's unbeaten home streak while Minnesota United remains winless in eight straight matches despite the late heroics that prevented defeat.
Both clubs returned to MLS play following Leagues Cup competition, having previously met on May 23 at Minnesota in a similar 1-1 tie.
