Penn State cross country competes at Princeton Fall Classic, Paul Short Run

Nick Sloff won the men’s race, and Penn State’s women posted six top-100 finishes as both teams tested themselves against strong fields.

  • On Friday, Oct. 2, Bowling Green State University and Penn State cross country teams competed at the Paul Short Run, hosted at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus Cross Country Course in Pennsylvania.
  • Last year, the Bowling Green Falcons men's team finished 24th out of 38 teams, while senior Kylee Cubbison led the women's squad during that season. This year's race provided an opportunity to improve on those results.
  • Junior Nick Sloff led the Nittany Lions to a strong performance, taking first overall in the men's 8,000-meter race with a time of 23:59.8. Senior Brian DiCola followed in 20th place at 24:31.3.
  • Sophomore Adam Kingston ran his first collegiate 8,000m in 25:00.2 for 50th place, while freshman Thomas Rae debuted in 63rd place in 25:10.1. Junior Logan Strawser and sophomore Isaac Opperman finished within three seconds of each other.
  • The women's team travels to Madison, Wisconsin, for the Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday. Senior Claire Zubey led the squad at the Princeton Fall Classic in 29th place, positioning her as a key competitor moving forward.
