A Pelican in Florida Was in Need of Help, so It Knocked on NOAA’s Door
The bird was treated and released after biologists removed a hook and fishing line, and NOAA said it appeared at the door seeking help.
CNN reported that National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration biologists in Panama City, Florida, rescued a pelican that appeared at their office door tangled in fishing line with a hook lodged in its wing.
A distinct tapping sound at the door alerted the NOAA biologists to the bird's distress, prompting them to discover the pelican in need of immediate help.
The biologists carefully removed the fishing line and hook while the pelican remained patient and calm throughout the delicate procedure.
Following a clean bill of health from the biologists, the pelican flew away, successfully returning to its natural habitat.
Biologists marveled at the pelican's instinct to seek help at their exact doorstep, noting the animal seemed to know precisely where to find assistance.
