Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by Car on Major Motorway
West Mercia Police said the pedestrian died at the scene, and the M42 was expected to stay closed for several hours.
On Thursday, September 10, a pedestrian died after being struck by a silver Vauxhall Insignia on the M42 between Junction 3 and Junction 2 near Redditch at approximately 10.15 p.m.
West Mercia Police responded to the scene, where investigative work is underway to determine collision circumstances and enquiries are ongoing to confirm the deceased's identity.
National Highways reported the M42 westbound remains closed for 'several hours,' while police warned the eastbound carriageway may face temporary closures throughout Friday.
Officers are urging any motorists in the area at the time to come forward with dashcam footage or witness accounts to assist the investigation.
Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes around Portway, Redditch, Alvechurch, and Hopwood as diversions remain in place while The M42 Southbound stays shut.
