Paul McCartney Details Nostalgic New Album ‘The Boys Of Dungeon Lane’ at London Listening Event: “Memories Are a Weird Thing”
McCartney shared 90 minutes of memories and previewed songs from The Boys Of Dungeon Lane for about 50 fans at Abbey Road Studios.
- On Tuesday, Paul McCartney surprised 50 fans at Abbey Road Studios with a playback of his upcoming 21st solo album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane. He shared stories behind the 14 tracks during the 90-minute event in Studio Two.
- Collaborating with producer Andrew Watt, McCartney created the album over five years. The project was a transatlantic effort between Watt's studio in Los Angeles and McCartney's home studio in Sussex.
- Reflecting on his childhood in Liverpool, McCartney shared memories of late bandmates John Lennon and George Harrison. He confirmed a new duet with Ringo Starr, saying it was "something we'd never done."
- During the session, McCartney joked about his childhood housing estates, saying when he mentions them to Americans, "it sounds like Downton Abbey." The comment drew laughter from the assembled fans.
- The album releases May 29. Hours after the listening event, McCartney was announced as a guest star on The Rolling Stones' upcoming album, Foreign Tongues.
