Parents Accused of Drunkenly Leading Young Kids on Long Walk in 108-Degree Heat
Police say the parents were intoxicated and made their two children walk for about three hours in 108-degree heat.
- On Aug. 9, Glendale Police arrested Ryan Mullin and May Mullin after witnesses reported the couple walking their two young children for three hours in 108-degree heat while heavily intoxicated following an Arizona Cardinals practice.
- Police responded around 6 p.m. to 91st Avenue and Montebello Avenue after a witness observed Ryan and May stumbling, with Ryan allegedly falling over one of the children while May appeared to be vomiting.
- Officers reported the couple exhibited slurred speech and bloodshot eyes; bodycam footage shows Ryan ignoring commands and grabbing a child's wrist before police threatened force to secure the child.
- Both face felony child abuse charges, with Ryan also booked on three counts of disorderly conduct; a judge released them on their own recognizance while mandating drug and alcohol monitoring.
- The judge ordered the couple to have no unsupervised contact with their children, stating, "Sir, you are allowed to see them as long as it is supervised." Pretrial services and testing are required conditions of release.
