The presidential initiative presented on August 27 amends articles 82, 116 and 122 of the Constitution. Anyone who aspires to the Presidency, a government or the head of government of Mexico City must renounce any other nationality before applying for registration.
The Chamber of Deputies will discuss Claudia Sheinbaum's reform to demand unique nationality from those seeking the Presidency or governorships.
The Sheinbaum initiative would force the resignation of another nationality in order to aspire to the Presidency, governorships or the Head of Government.
