Host/No. 8 University of California-Irvine Evades No. 18 United States Naval Academy, 11-10, on Final Day of UC-Irvine Mini Tournament - Collegiate Water Polo Association

The No. 18-ranked United States Naval Academy water polo team trailed by as many five goals in the third quarter to host/No. 8 University of California-Irvine at the Anteater Athletics Complex.  The Midshipmen attempted to mount a comeback attempt that fell just short in dropping an 11-10 decision to the Anteaters on the final day of the UC-Irvine Mini Tournament.

Overtime Victory Highlights Pair of Water Polo Upsets

The #18 Navy water polo team (10-1) recorded a pair of upset victories on Saturday at the UC Irvine Mini Tournament at Anteater Aquatics Complex in Irvine, Calif. In each game, the Midshipmen fell behind by three goals and rallied to win. The Mids posted a 13-10 victory over #17 Santa Clara (8-6) in the first game of the day before earning a 19-18 overtime win against #11 Loyola Marymount (7-6).

Broncos Fall to Pair of Ranked Teams in Irvine - Santa Clara University

IRVINE, Calif. - No. 17 Santa Clara men's water polo put forth a great effort, but ultimately came up on the wrong side of a pair of tightly-fought contests against ranked opponents on Saturday at the UC Irvine mini tournament. The Broncos began the day with a 13-10 loss to No. 18 Navy before regrouping and giving No. 8 UC Irvine all they could handle in a rough 14-13 final that came down to the final possession.
