Outlander Star Sam Heughan to DJ at Glasgow Commonwealth Games
Heughan will entertain crowds at the SEC Armadillo as para powerlifting awards Glasgow 2026’s first medal.
On July 24, Glasgow 2026 ambassador Sam Heughan will make his DJ debut at the SEC Armadillo during the Para Powerlifting medal ceremony, marking the first time in Commonwealth Games history a Para sport awards the opening medal.
To prepare for his set, Heughan trained with veteran radio presenter and DJ George Bowie, who holds an MBE and emphasized creating atmosphere requires "instinct and energy" rather than technical skill.
Glasgow 2026 runs from July 23 to August 2, welcoming 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and featuring a record-breaking Para sport programme of 47 events across six sports over the 11-day celebration.
Louisa Mahon, chief marketing officer at Glasgow 2026, called the moment a "brilliant opportunity" for crowds, with tickets for the Para Powerlifting session and Heughan's performance ranging from £20 to £45.
Heughan expressed excitement for the home Games, noting "Scottish fans are the best in the world," and promised attendees at the SEC Armadillo that "it's safe to say that we will boogie.
