Andrej Rublev had the serve and was going to take the first set. He failed. Otto Virtanen won the tiebreak. In the second set, Rublev had three set points in Virtanen's serve, but the Finn weathered the storm with a few cannonballs and won the tiebreak 7–0. But it was the Russian who had the last word in the US Open when he won 3–2 after 10-5 in the final tiebreak in the fifth set.
