Orioles' Félix Bautista and Blaze Alexander Are Nearing Rehab Assignments
Bautista has yet to pitch this season after August 2025 rotator cuff surgery, and Baltimore will need a 40-man roster move to activate him.
On Tuesday, the Baltimore Orioles announced that All-Star reliever Felix Bautista and utility player Blaze Alexander could begin rehab assignments later this week, according to the club's weekly injury report.
Bautista has been sidelined since rotator cuff surgery, which followed a Tommy John procedure that caused him to miss the entire 2024 season.
Orioles manager Craig Albernaz said Tuesday that Bautista has "done everything that he can," with live batting practice sessions "looking great" and trending in the right spots.
Alexander aims to return from a broken left hand suffered July 13, while the Orioles remain in a three-way tie for the final wild-card spot with Texas and Detroit.
Closer Cam Sanders has converted all three save opportunities this season, though the Orioles must clear a 40-man roster spot when activating Bautista from the 60-day injured list.
