The Ontario government announced on Thursday (August 13) that it is tightening eligibility for social assistance. Effective immediately, people who are illegally residing in Canada, as well as those granted temporary residency, including those holding student visas, work permits, and visitors and tourists, will no longer be eligible for Ontario social assistance or disability benefits.
