One Piece Announces 2 New Anime Films
Toei will release a God Valley adaptation and a second film in 2027 and 2029 to mark One Piece’s milestone anniversaries.
During One Piece Day festivities in Tokyo on August 23, makers of the anime 'One Piece' announced two new films: One Piece Film God Valley arriving in summer 2027 and One Piece Film Baad following in 2029.
Both movies celebrate One Piece's manga turning 30 in 2027, while the anime reaches its 30th anniversary in 2029, timing each film release to mark these significant franchise milestones.
Winding the clock back about 40 years, One Piece Film God Valley serves as a prequel covering a large scale genocide at the titular island involving key figures Garp and Roger.
Netflix also revealed casting updates for the third season of its live-action adaptation, Battle of Alabasta, adding Emilio Sakraya as Koza, Omid Abtahi as Toto, Jamie Ward as Pell, and Nabeel Khan as Chaka.
Plot details for One Piece Film Baad remain under wraps as the project is three years out. The official English YouTube channel teased similar release windows for Western audiences.
