One of the world’s most-visited museums plans an extension in an industrial Dutch city
The Rijksmuseum will open a 3,500-square-meter branch with local industry sponsorship to enhance access to Dutch design and technology collections in the south.

- Eindhoven, known as a high-tech hub, will host a Rijksmuseum branch focusing on design and technology to align with its industrial profile, officials said this strengthens Brainport Eindhoven culturally.
- The building will span more than 3,500 square metres in Dommel River parkland, a few minutes' walk from Eindhoven central railway station, and is scheduled to open in six to eight years.
- The Eindhoven municipality will fund the project, local press reported the cost at �80 million, while the Eindhoven city council still has to approve the plans.
- The Rijksmuseum's large stored collection means it aims to increase visibility, following nearly 2.5 million visitors in 2024 and precedents like London's Victoria and Albert Museum and Louvre Abu Dhabi.
