Hamas called on press institutions and international federations to work in solidarity with and protect Palestinian journalists and hold accountable those responsible for violations against them.
The “International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian Journalists,” declared by the International Federation of Journalists in 1996, is commemorated every year on September 26th. Journalists in Gaza and other parts of Palestine face death and work with limited resources to tell the world the truth.
Hamas described Israel's violations against journalists as war crimes and crimes against humanity that are not subject to statute of limitations. The statement noted that Israel has killed more than 262 journalists and media workers and wounded over 400 since October 7, 2023.
