The Stiftung Warentest must be liable for the economic consequences of an incorrect test judgment. The Oberlandesgericht Frankfurt granted compensation to the smoke detector manufacturer Pyrexx. The exact amount has yet to be determined. The foundation fears that the judgement will restrict independent tests.

In the dispute over the far-reaching consequences of an incorrect "lack of" judgment for a smoke detector, the Oberlandesgericht (OLG) in Frankfurt am Main found a breach of duty of the Stiftung Warentest. Therefore, the affected manufacturer Pyrexx could "claim for damages for the reason", the OLG decided on Thursday.
