OKX Launches Stablecoin Savings and Payments App

Qualifying users can earn up to 10% APY on USDG balances and 10% cashback as OKX expands stablecoin payments services.

  • On Tuesday, OKX launched the OKX Money app, allowing users to convert over 50 local currencies into dollar-backed stablecoins and spend via virtual or physical cards. The platform enables customers to hold USDG, USDC, or USDT.
  • OKX is packaging these services for customers in markets where local currencies are volatile and dollar-denominated savings access is limited or costly. The app furthers the exchange's consumer-finance push after securing a Maltese payments-institution license this year.
  • Qualifying customers can earn up to 10% APY on eligible USDG holdings without staking requirements. "Customers can qualify for a higher tier by meeting a 30-day average deposit threshold, exceeding a 30-day spending amount or achieving a higher Exchange VIP status," a spokesperson said.
  • Tracked crypto-card spending topped $1 billion this year as companies compete to bring stablecoin balances into everyday purchases. OKX's roll-out positions it alongside Coinbase, Binance Pay, and Bybit Card in the emerging consumer stablecoin market.
  • Cross-Border stablecoin flows rose 77.5% to $220.3 billion in the 12 months ending June 2026, according to Chainalysis, signaling strong demand for global payments. Yet the European Union's Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation prohibits issuers from granting interest on single-currency stablecoins, constraining yield offerings.
