Ohio Voters Choose Who Will Move Forward in Race for Governor
Vivek Ramaswamy and Jon Husted won Republican nominations as Sherrod Brown and Dr. Amy Acton set up November statewide matchups.
On Tuesday, Ohio voters elected party representatives for governor, U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate, setting up a November race between U.S. Sen. Jon Husted, R-Ohio, and former Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, and a governor's race between Republican Vivek Ramaswamy and Democrat Amy Acton.
The election followed the Ohio legislature's October 2025 redistricting efforts, with Ramaswamy securing the Republican nomination after an early endorsement from President Donald Trump, while Acton, a physician and former Ohio Department of Public Health director, ran unopposed.
U.S. Rep. Greg Landsman, D-Ohio, defeated primary challenger Casey Putsch, advancing to face Air Force veteran Eric Conroy, while Brown easily beat challenger Ron Kincaid, aiming to reclaim the seat lost to Sen. Bernie Moreno in 2024.
Acton advocated for expanding Medicaid and fighting against further cuts, writing she will fight cuts 'from Columbus or Congress,' while Brown attacked Husted's record and called for bans on stock trading in Congress.
On Nov. 3, voters will return to the polls to finalize these contests across the state, as candidates pivot to general election platforms focusing on healthcare costs, economic policy, and American competitiveness.
