State technology workers are prioritizing OMV and Louisiana State Police connectivity after legacy systems failed during the migration, officials said.
- Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles locations are experiencing network outages following the installation of new core network equipment on Sunday, forcing some offices to close across the state.
- Thomas Mule, communications director for the Office of Technology Services , said the agency replaced legacy hardware after the legislative session ended, beginning the transition "from a 1992 Honda Civic to a 2026 McLaren 750."
- While the new hardware system "is up and running," officials report ongoing connectivity problems, with the agency prioritizing Louisiana State Police and OMV connectivity since Sunday.
- "Our team has been working nonstop since Sunday, and will continue to work until our network is back to 100%," Mule said, as crews address system failures from the migration.
- To avoid disruptions similar to the previous fiscal year, the agency delayed the installation until the 2026 legislative session concluded; residents can check status updates at www.expresslane.la.gov.
