Police Officer Shot at During Mississauga Investigation, Suspect in Custody
The officer was not hit, and police said the suspect was later taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before being taken into custody.
On Sunday, June 21, 2026, a man was arrested after allegedly shooting at a Peel Regional Police officer in Mississauga near Torbram Road and Lucknow Drive during an early morning investigation.
This incident follows recent deaths of two Ontario police officers this month: Ontario Provincial Police Const. Tarun Bali was killed in Hearst on June 9, and Marc Pinizzotto died in North York on June 11.
The targeted officer was not struck or injured; the 19-year-old suspect was taken to hospital and charged with first-degree murder, dangerous driving, and flight from police.
Authorities closed Torbram Road north of Derry Road East to Drew Road to facilitate the investigation, which police said does not fall under Special Investigations Unit mandate.
Investigators have not revealed the suspect's identity beyond his age or the specific circumstances of the investigation, as police maintained a lengthy closure at the scene to process evidence.
