NYPD: Man accused in fatal Bronx, Brooklyn shootings arrested
Police say the suspect killed two people and wounded a worker during robbery attempts, then stole cash from registers, officials said.
- On Saturday, the NYPD arrested Jesus Acosta in connection with two fatal shootings across the Bronx and Brooklyn that occurred earlier this week.
- Acosta allegedly killed 44-year-old MD Yousuf in a Brooklyn restaurant just after midnight Sunday, then shot 33-year-old Tayvon Shuler at a Bronx deli on Tuesday.
- A $25,000 FBI reward and $10,000 from the United Bodegas of America supported the manhunt for Acosta, a 31-year-old parolee with 13 prior arrests and 11 years served in prison.
- Authorities took Acosta into custody at approximately 10:50 a.m. Saturday and are questioning him at the 43rd Precinct.
- Mayor Zohran Mamdani said his administration is "reducing shootings and murders to the lowest levels in recorded history," while United Bodegas of America President Radahmes Rodriguez called for panic buttons in bodegas.
