Nvidia discusses Perplexity investment at $30 billion-plus valuation, The Information reports
The funding round would lift Perplexity’s valuation by more than 50% from its previous financing, according to The Information.
On Sunday, August 23, Nvidia entered talks to invest in Perplexity as part of an equity funding round that would value the AI startup at more than $30 billion, according to The Information.
Perplexity's valuation would increase by more than 50% from its previous financing, building on the $20 billion valuation The Information reported in September last year.
Annualized revenue rose to more than $750 million from less than $250 million earlier this year, a growth trend driven by Perplexity Computer, a cloud-based AI agent automating professional tasks.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and SoftBank Group are high-profile backers alongside Nvidia, while Perplexity secured a more than $750 million agreement earlier this year to use Microsoft Azure cloud services.
CEO Aravind Srinivas stated in June that Perplexity plans to go public in 2028 regardless of how competitors Anthropic and OpenAI perform in their own listings. Perplexity declined to comment on the reported funding.
