North Korea says record-high Japan defence budget would risk ‘turmoil’
Japan has been gradually moving away from its post-Second World War pacifist stance, increasing military spending, ramping up defence pacts and deploying missile launchers to its outer islands.
The Japanese Ministry of Defence is currently asking for a "record" budget for the next fiscal year, reported this week the local channel NHK and other media, which estimate this amount at 8,900 billion yen (48 billion euros). This budget demand "will again beat all historical records", commented the official Pyongyang news agency, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
