İzzet Demir, who killed Sidar Şimşek, with whom he had a religious marriage in Izmir, with a hunting knife, was sentenced to an aggravated life sentence for "premeditated murder against a woman." Demir was also given a nine-month sentence for possession of a knife, but the court did not reduce the sentence or apply unjust provocation. The incident occurred in front of the child.
