Minister M.B. Patil clarified in the Legislative Assembly that there is no proposal before the government to set up a second international airport for the capital Bengaluru in Tumkur at present. The 150 km air gap rule as per the Greenfield Airport Policy will be an obstacle for this. The minister said that there is no plan to allocate funds at present.
