No Pollution Control Certificate, No Fuel: Delhi Govt's Tough Step Against Air Pollution
Delhi will prevent refueling of vehicles lacking valid Pollution Under Control certificates from December 18 to strengthen pollution control, with fines for violations already issued, officials said.
- On Thursday , Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control certificate will be barred from refuelling at petrol pumps.
- Since December 13, Delhi and the National Capital Region have been under Stage 4 Graded Response Action Plan curbs as stubble burning, vehicular emissions, and low winds from a western disturbance worsen Air Quality Index readings.
- Issuing fines and seizing offending vehicles is part of the enforcement plan, with vehicle owners given one day to comply and strict challans issued for PUC violations, Sirsa said Tuesday.
- Only BS-VI compliant vehicles from outside Delhi will be allowed entry from Thursday, while authorities target 13 pollution hotspots and support traffic police with N95 masks and biomethanation plant heaters.
- The government plans to deploy 7,500 electric buses, with over 2,000 pollution-monitoring plants installed by the Delhi Pollution Control Committee and efforts to cut garbage mountains by 15 metres and reclaim 45 acres.

No Fuel For Vehicles In Delhi Without Valid PUC From Thursday: Minister
Vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate will not be allowed to refuel at petrol pumps in the national capital from December 18, Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said on Tuesday.
