New NHS cancer plan aims to save 75% of patients by 2035
The plan includes a £2.3 billion investment to fund 9.5 million additional tests by 2029 and aims to save 320,000 lives over the next decade, officials said.
- On Wednesday, the National Cancer Plan will commit to meeting all three NHS cancer targets in England by March 2029 and pledges three in four people with cancer will be cured or `living well` within five years by 2035.
- Some 60 per cent of cancer patients currently survive for five years or more, but the UK lags comparative countries with minimal improvement last year in treatment waits.
- The plan will fund faster diagnostics with 2.3 billion and expand DNA cancer testing for all eligible patients, supporting earlier diagnosis and personalized treatment.
