The NHRC has taken cognizance of a serious allegation against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's wife. The allegation is that she demanded ₹5 crore (50 million rupees) to suppress a rape case. This allegation was made by former judge Justice Ranjit Singh. Akali leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal has also sought a response from the Punjab government on this issue.
