Newsquest's Young Reporter Scheme returns with early bird price offer
The scheme gives students monthly bylines for eight months and has drawn tens of thousands of participants, organisers said.
Newsquest launched an early-bird offer today for new schools joining The Young Reporter scheme, allowing them to secure reduced costs through June 30 while allocating expenses to the current academic year's budget.
The Young Reporter scheme offers students in Years 10 to 13 eight months of media experience, with participants publishing monthly articles across the Newsquest network to develop professional skills like meeting deadlines.
Victoria Whitwam from Hampton School said, "Best of all, it fosters independent thinking and organisational skills in the pupils that take part." Alison Cotton, Head of English at Croydon High, praised the program's support for KS4 and 5 students.
Organisers say the programme benefits all students regardless of career aspirations, encouraging participants to step outside their comfort zones and improve writing abilities beyond journalism preparation.
Schools interested in joining The Young Reporter initiative can visit youngreporter.co.uk to submit an information request form, with early-bird pricing available through June 30 for new participants.
