New York City's Poverty Rate in 2024 Was Twice the National Average

The Robin Hood Foundation and Columbia University’s Center for Poverty and Social Policy released their annual report, “Poverty and Vulnerability in New York City,” on the 16th. The report states that in 2024, the number of people living in poverty in New York City will reach the highest level in more than a decade of research, with the city’s poverty rate rising to about 26%, roughly twice the national average.
