"He Quit on the Stool" - Justin Gaethje Shuts Down Ilia Topuria Rematch Talk, Names Potential Opponent for 'El Matador’
Gaethje says he plans to fight again and wants another lightweight opponent, while Topuria has called for a rematch after the White House title bout.
Newly crowned UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje rejected a rematch against Ilia Topuria after defeating him at UFC Freedom 250, stating he has no interest in running it back with the former champion.
Gaethje outslugged Topuria last week at the White House, forcing the former champion to quit on his stool after four rounds, securing Gaethje's first UFC title.
Topuria recently expressed a desire for a rematch on Instagram, writing, 'And trust me, this story between us is far from over,' despite acknowledging Gaethje's victory.
During an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Gaethje dismissed further bouts with Topuria, stating, 'I stopped him twice, what else do I have to f--king do?'
Gaethje confirmed he is 'planning' on fighting again soon, tempering retirement talk while considering several opponents for his first title defense including Arman Tsarukyan, Charles Oliveira, and Mauricio Ruffy.
