Beloved Netflix Show Finally Gets Season 2 Update After 4 Year Wait, Returning Cast Announced
Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale, Margo Martindale and Isabel Gravitt are returning as Netflix says the long-delayed season will likely arrive next year.
- Netflix announced that production on Season 2 of The Watcher begins this fall in New York, marking the first major update for the mystery horror series in nearly four years.
- Created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, the thriller was renewed for Season 2 in November 2022, one month after its October debut, yet the four-year gap before production may be a record for a U.S. series.
- Returning to reprise their roles are Naomi Watts as Nora Brannock, Bobby Cannavale as Dean Brannock, Margo Martindale, and Isabel Gravitt as their daughter Ellie Brannock.
- Showrunner Ian Brennan leads the creative team alongside director Crystle Roberson Dorsey, with executive producers including Henry Joost, Ariel Schulman, Eric Newman, and Bryan Unkeless overseeing production.
- Season 2 is expected to premiere next year, creating a five-year gap between consecutive seasons, as Murphy's transition to 20th Television at Disney after his Netflix deal ended contributed to the extended delay.
