Here's BMW's First All-Electric 3 Series, the 2027 I3
The 2027 i3 features a 463 hp dual-motor AWD, a 108 kWh battery with 400 kW fast charging, and advanced digital tech, marking BMW’s shift to electrification.
- BMW launches the 2027 BMW i3 as its first battery-electric 3 Series and opening Neue Klasse model, with production beginning in Munich this year.
- In recent years, BMW has framed the Neue Klasse as a once-in-a-generation transformation covering engineering, design, sustainability and zero-emission production facilities.
- With a roughly 108.7 kilowatt-hours net battery pack, the i3 uses an 800-volt electrical architecture and 400 kilowatts peak charging, plus dual electric motors producing 463 hp and 476 lb-ft.
- BMW will also offer gasoline versions of the new 3 Series later to avoid alienating loyal buyers while removing the physical kidney grilles and rendering kidney shapes in LED light, BMW says.
- Reusing the Neue Klasse name recalls BMW's 1960s mid-size cars and signals a new design language as concepts move into production; the 3 Series has sold more than 14 million units since 1975.

It also looks like you'd hope a 3-series EV would: a sporty sedan, minus the polarizing grille on the gas-powered M3. The i3 uses BMW's Neue Klasse platform and indeed borrows inspirat…
