Suspect Arrested After Downtown New Braunfels Shooting Injures 3
Police say the 25-year-old suspect fired several rounds after a fight, injuring two men and an uninvolved woman, all now listed in stable condition.
On Sunday, a drive-by shooting in downtown New Braunfels left three people injured, prompting the New Braunfels Police Department to arrest 25-year-old Josiah Anthony Arevalo. Officers responded to the 100 block of North Seguin Avenue around 12:45 a.m.
Investigators report the shooting followed a physical altercation involving the suspect and the two male victims earlier that night. Arevalo allegedly located the men walking downtown and fired multiple shots from a vehicle before driving away.
A 25-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man were transported to Ascension Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle, while a 27-year-old man was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Authorities noted the woman was an unintended bystander.
Arevalo surrendered to authorities without incident and now faces three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held at the Comal County Jail pending further proceedings.
All three victims remain in stable condition as the department continues its investigation. Officials indicate additional charges could be filed as evidence is processed from the ongoing case.
