Summer doesn’t officially start for more than a month, but the heat is already here. Nelson broke a 60-year temperature record on Sunday, according to Environment Canada. The city hit 29 C, breaking the previous mark of 28.3 set in 1966. Nelson was one of 24 communities in B.C. to hit record highs on Sunday. Nelson may yet break more records — Environment Canada’s forecast as of May 4 was for temperature highs ranging from 23-28 C through May 10.
