NEC reach Champions League playoff round after extra-time win over Olympiacos
NEC reached the final qualifying round of the Champions League by beating Olympiacos 2-1 after extra time. Dick Schreuder’s team took advantage of the Greek side being reduced to 10 men in the 80th minute, with Turkish substitute Emre Mor scoring the decisive goal at the Goffertstadion.
For the first time, NEC played at their home stadium, the Goffert, in the Champions League qualifying round. The Nijmegen team won 2-1, thanks in part to an assist from 37-year-old signing Dusan Tadic.

NEC have seen off Olympiakos in a thrilling second leg. The visitors from Greece took the lead in the second half, but a goal from Bryan Linssen forced extra time, after last week’s earlier 0-0. Against ten-man Olympiakos, NEC eventually came out on top through a goal from Emre Mor: 2-1. The side from Nijmegen can now turn their attention to the final hurdle on the road to Champions League football: the play-offs against Bodø/Glimt.
