Near record high temperatures expected throughout Chicago this weekend

Temperatures may reach the mid-to-high 80s this weekend, nearing or matching records set in 1951 and 1997, well above the average high of 68 degrees.

Temperatures in Chicago are expected to reach near-record highs over the weekend before a more seasonal cool-down early next week. The high for Saturday is expected to be 87 degrees — three degrees shy of the record high for October 4 which was set in 1951, according to the National Weather Service.
